Many traders continue searching for the "grail" — an approach that delivers nothing but profit. How realistic that goal is remains an open question.
This M15 strategy, built on three straightforward indicators, is gaining popularity among traders worldwide. Martingale elements help manage drawdowns and bring trading close to break-even over a series of trades.
Strategy Overview
- Suitable for any currency pairs.
- Recommended timeframe: M15.
- Expiration time: 15 minutes.
- Trading session: any.
- Recommended brokers: Quotex, PocketOption, Binarium.
The strategy uses three indicators:
- BB Alert Arrows — an arrow-based signal indicator that issues up or down pointers along with a built-in MT4 alert.
- Heiken Ashi — a standard charting tool that displays the dominant trend in red (bearish) or green (bullish).
- MBFX Timing — an oscillator showing current market conditions. Green indicates rising price; red indicates falling price; yellow indicates no clear direction — the market is ranging.
Entry Rules
Buy a Call option when all three of the following conditions are met:
- BB Alert Arrows displays a green arrow;
- Heiken Ashi shows a green candle;
- MBFX Timing is green and pointing upward.
Buy a Put option when all three of the following conditions are met:
- BB Alert Arrows displays a red arrow;
- Heiken Ashi shows a red candle;
- MBFX Timing is red and declining.
Applying the Martingale
Used correctly, the Martingale method can reduce losses and grow your account. Used incorrectly, only the first few trades in a series will be profitable before the stake sizes become unmanageable.
The size of each trade in the series depends on two factors:
- option payout rate — the lower the payout, the faster the trade size must increase to cover prior losses;
- your target outcome — breaking even or achieving a fixed profit per series. Larger trade sizes carry a greater risk of account loss.
Here is a worked example using an initial trade of $10 at a 75% payout rate, with the goal of achieving a profit equal to the first trade's return at every stage:
Trade 1 = $10. Profit if won: $7.50; loss if lost: $10.
Trade 2. The target profit is $7.50, but the $10 loss from Trade 1 also needs to be covered — requiring total income of $17.50. At a 75% payout, the required stake is $17.50 ÷ 0.75 = $23.
Trade 3. Total losses from Trades 1 and 2: $10 + $23 = $33. To cover these losses and achieve the target profit of $7.50, the required stake is $54. A win on this trade returns $40.50, which covers all prior losses and produces the target profit.
Trade Examples
When the strategy rules are followed consistently, the majority of options close in the money.
One important caveat: the BB Alert Arrows indicator repaints — meaning its signals can change after they first appear. Do not enter a trade immediately when an arrow appears; wait for candle confirmation. The chart below highlights repaints detected in testing mode (yellow) and in historical data (pink).
In the three-trade series shown on the chart, the third consecutive trade closed at a loss. However, the increased Martingale stake on the next trade brought it in the money, covering all prior losses.
Three consecutive losses are rare with this strategy, but if it happens, accept the loss and restart the calculation from Trade 1.
Practical tips
To protect your account, always follow these rules:
- Do not extend a Martingale series beyond three trades.
- Practise on a demo account for at least a month. This will expose any weaknesses in the system and give you time to refine your approach.
- Always check the economic calendar: avoid opening trades in the 30 minutes before a major news release and for a period immediately afterwards.
- Plan your trades in advance. A written trading plan is one of the most effective tools for reducing risk and improving consistency.
- Apply money management rules at all times.
