The prospect of earning up to 100% profit in a matter of minutes attracts both beginners and experienced traders to binary options. The reality, however, is that not everyone achieves these returns — and the gap between expectation and outcome usually comes down to preparation. There is no shortage of strategies and indicators available online for short timeframes and short-term trading, but most require testing before they can be applied reliably. Experienced traders know this: they test any new system on a demo account or in a strategy tester before risking real capital, which is why fewer of them blow their accounts on strategies found online. Beginners, by contrast, often jump straight to live trading without understanding which signals matter and which to ignore — and even a well-documented strategy can produce losses in the wrong hands.

Scalping and short-term binary options trading are viable, but they require genuine knowledge and extended practice. Consistent profitability is not something that develops within a month. Regardless of the strategy used, market noise will mislead an inexperienced trader before they learn to filter it. Keep in mind that indicators are algorithms that track price — nothing more. Using them effectively means first developing an understanding of how markets work, what a trend is, and why asset prices move.

Statistics suggest that around 95% of traders lose their capital — some quickly, others more gradually. Yet beginners continue to apply complex binary options strategies without spending time on the fundamentals. Wouldn't it make more sense to start with something simple?

Below, we present an original binary options trading strategy that requires no indicators at all.

The Idea Behind the Insider Strategy

There is one pattern that novice traders benefit from understanding early: the primary driver of financial markets is trading volume — not macroeconomic data or geopolitical events. Volume-based analysis therefore offers the most objective read of market conditions. The more buyers an asset attracts, the higher its price will go.

The challenge is that real volume data requires specialized — and expensive — platforms. The tick volumes available in MetaTrader 4 and MT5 are not the same as actual traded volume and should not be used as a proxy.

Binary options trading is dominated by currency pairs. The forex market has no centralized exchange, which means it is impossible to measure total volume for a pair like EUR/USD — the same pair trades simultaneously across banks in America, China, the UK, and elsewhere.

Volume data does exist for related instruments: currency futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), for example, have fully transparent volume. This strategy does not require that data directly, but the underlying logic is relevant: futures traders use both market orders and limit orders. Accumulated orders — particularly those placed before a major session opens — often set the tone for that day's price movement. This is the concept the strategy is built on.

Trading Rules

The rules of this strategy are straightforward, and execution takes no more than 15 minutes per day — at the opening of the London trading session.

According to the trading session schedule, the London session opens at 08:00 UTC. The entry signal uses nothing more than the price action of a single candle. There is no need to purchase access to volume platforms — in binary options trading, only the direction of the move matters, not its magnitude.

To open a Call option:

  • The 07:45 UTC candle (M15) closed up.

To open a Put option:

  • The 07:45 UTC candle (M15) closed down.

When the 07:45 UTC candle closes upward, there is approximately a 66.6% probability that the next candle will also close upward. The same applies in reverse. The reasoning: the final candles before the London session opens reflect the positioning and sentiment of UK-based traders, and that sentiment tends to continue into the opening of the session.

Note: the chart images used in the examples below show candle times adjusted for a different broker time zone, where the London session opens at 10:00. In those images, the relevant candle appears at 9:45. Always use the candle that immediately precedes the London open in your broker's time zone — refer to the trading sessions table to identify the correct candle.

Trade Examples

All examples use the EUR/USD pair — one of the most actively traded instruments at the London open.

Over the trading week of 20–24 January, 3 of 5 trades were profitable — a 60% win rate, consistent with the 66.6% probability described above.

Risk Management Note

No strategy produces consistent winners every week. There will be weeks where losing trades outnumber profitable ones, which is why risk management and money management are non-negotiable. Keep individual trade sizes to no more than 2% of your deposit, and continue building your knowledge and experience so you can apply additional analysis where needed.

Conclusion

The Insider strategy can be used as a standalone system — it requires minimal daily time commitment — or as a supplementary signal alongside your existing approach. As with any strategy, test it on a demo account before trading live. If you are still deciding on a broker, our binary options broker rating is a good place to start.
